WiTouch® receives The Red Dot: Best of the Best recognition at the Red Dot Gala international design event of the year!

Monday, July 1 marked the high point of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2013. More than 1,200 international guests celebrated the winners of the well-known competition in the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. The Red Dot Gala took place in Essen’s opera house for the 20th time. After the glamorous award ceremony, the Designers‘ Night party in the Red Dot Design Museum went on well into the early hours. The evening also marked the opening of two Red Dot special exhibitions.

With his able charm, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot, hosted the Red Dot Gala and honored the best names in the industry with the Red Dot Trophy on the evening. The sought-after trophy was presented in its new design for the first time. Jewelry designer Günter Wermekes recently gave the symbol for the highest award in the competition a whole new look.

The globally acclaimed shoe designer Jimmy Choo was a jury member and an on-stage guest for the first time this year. Together with Peter Zec, he handed over the trophies to the winners.

Designers, architects and companies from 54 countries submitted almost 4,700 of their best products in 19 different categories this year. The panel of experts awarded the Red Dot for excellent product design to a total of 1,065 products and the Honorable Mention for especially refined detail solutions to 205 products. The Red Dot: Best of the Best, the highest award in the competition, was given to 57 happy prize winners on stage at the Aalto Theater this year.

There was a modern and thrilling cultural entertainment program, with the popular trio Wildes Holz winning over the audience with their wild and funny cover versions played on classical wood-based instruments. The Aalto Ballett Theater Essen also gave an impressive performance of the expressive dance piece “Deca Dance“ – a composition of various pieces by the Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin.

Success should be celebrated, which is why after the official award ceremony the Red Dot Design Museum opened its doors for the legendary Designers’ Night. Essen’s star DJ Chrissi D! provided the dance beats to get the guests on their feet at the after show party – the former boiler house of the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex was “boiling over“ until the early hours.

Representatives from Hollywog and its Australia-based design teams, Katapult Design and Procept, attended the Red Dot Gala events. Hollywog is very proud to have won the distinguished Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best.  It is truly an honor to have WiTouch recognized among the best in the industry from all over the world.

Hollywog® wins Australian International Design Awards 2013 – Best in Category

Chattanooga, TN, June 5, 2013: Hollywog continued its recent success by winning the Design Award for “Best in Category” for the WiTouch and WiTouch Pro in the Medical and Scientific section. Following on from our win in the red dot ‘best of the best’ design award earlier this year, this is validation of Hollywog’s commitment to world class design and a great reward for our hard working team.

On the 30th May 2013 the Australian International Design Awards (AIDA) Presentation Ceremony took place in Sydney as part of the Vivid Festival. Hosted this year by 2013 Australian of the Year, Ita Buttrose, the AIDA’s are widely regarded as the Australian design industry’s night of nights. Held annually, the gala function plays host to more than 700 designers, product manufacturers, media, government officials, VIPs, students and emerging design talent.

Hollywog was represented at the Presentation Ceremony by their Australian design and engineering partners, Katapult Design and Procept Australia. “All projects of this caliber are a team effort and WiTouch was no different.  It is both humbling and rewarding to come out on top against such a strong field of contenders,” said Nathan Pollock, Director of Katapult Design.  Added Keith Hagy, Vice President of Product Development at Hollywog:  “This prestigious award exemplifies our dedication to unique design and high quality to evolve ordinary medical devices to extraordinary levels. I am very proud of the Hollywog team and our development partners based in Australia: Katapult Design and Procept Australia. Award-winning design: Hollywog® wins over the jury for the “red dot award: product design 2013” to garner the “best of the best” title!

Chattanooga, TN, March 13, 2013: WiTouch® and WiTouch®  Pro by Hollywog® filled the 37-member jury of experts for the “red dot award: product design 2013” with enthusiasm. With its wireless remote controlled medical devices for back pain, Hollywog proved its ultimate design strength in an international comparison. As a well-earned prize, Hollywog was awarded the “red dot: best of the best” for its smart and impressive product creation. 4,662 products were entered in the “red dot award: product design 2013”, but only a very select few were given the honour of being considered for the top award in one of the world’s most renowned competitions.

WiTouch and WiTouch Pro made the cut: with the “red dot: best of the best”, it is guaranteed global visibility. Because on 1 July 2013, all eyes of the top names in international design will be focused on Essen, Germany. The red dot gala in the Aalto Theater is always the final highlight of the “red dot award: product design”. Over the past years, the awards ceremony has become established as a celebratory ceremony with international guests. WiTouch Pro will then be put on display during a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum.

“We are honoured to achieve the “red dot: best of the best” designation for our WiTouch products,“ said Chuck Thomas, President of Hollywog. “WiTouch and WiTouch Pro are the first wireless remote controlled pain relief devices incorporating TENS technology to specifically target back pain, and this prestigious award exemplifies our dedication to unique design and high quality to evolve ordinary medical devices to extraordinary levels. I am very proud of the Hollywog team and our development partners based in Australia: Katapult Design and Procept. Our global collaboration defines the standard for design and development required to succeed in today’s global market.”

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot, has pointed out that strong design competence and economic success nowadays go hand in hand: “The winners of the ´red dot award: product design 2013´ are the protagonists of a highly developed design culture and design industry. These days it is becoming more and more difficult to distinguish between well-designed products. It is often only in the details that the special qualities become apparent. However, those product creations that pass the test before the critical eyes of the international red dot jury will not disappear into the crowd and will be able to fend off global competition.”

The red dot design award

With the red dot design award, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen created one of the world’s most acclaimed competitions. The prize, the “red dot”, has established itself internationally as one of the most sought-after quality marks for excellent design. The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen displays the award-winning products in the red dot design museum for at least one year.
